PART 7: Convictions
The notes include an outline of the theory, a chapter summary, a glossary and ideas for further reading.
The slides are a PowerPoint presentation which matches the one used in the video.
The exercises contain examples to analyse using the theory.
This part of the course examines convictions, which are stories about whether a particular description of the world is true, uncertain or false. The main example is of the description humans cause climate change, and how different forces in society reinforce the story by representing it as fact, while other forces undermine it by representing it as uncertain or a false. Another example discussed is how economics textbook represent the description humans are fundamentally selfish with high certainty.
The video illustrates convictions with an example. Click left to download it and right to watch it on Vimeo.
